| Tianchi Lake The world famous Tianchi Lake ,like a huge blue diamond,is inlaid among the towering peaks of the mountain.The lake is deep,calm and limpid.The deepest spot is 373m.When the peaks and the clouds are mirrored in the glittering water,it is so extremely beautiful that one feels like in a paradise.The enigma of the unidentified animal adds mystery to the lake.At the foot of the mountain there are some smaller lakes:the lesser Tianchi,Wangchi and Yuanchi(to match the dominant one beautifully).They are clear and tranquil,surrounded by ancient pines and clorful flowers.These place are of a different style from other parts of the mountain.The Yuanchi Lake is also called "Nymphs' Bath pond"or"Celestial Lake".As the legend goes,there was a time when three nymphs used to descerd to bathe in the lake.The youngestof them.However,once ate a berry and became pregnant.Later she gave birth to a boy and named him Bukuli Yongshun.Who is believed to be the first ancestor of the Manchu people. Around the Tianchi Lake the 16 peaks are high and sheer,the gorges unfathomable and the rocks exquisite.The peaks vary in style,baiyun penetrates into the sky,shrouded by mists and clouds all day long:Tianwen is magnificent,its tip leaning to wards the lake like a hawk'sbeak(an ideal place to enjoy the landscape).Tianhuo looks like two dragons coiling,with a rift in between,which is believed to have been cut by Dayu when he was harnessing the river:Sanqi with three summits mirrored in the lake,is an exceptionally charming sight:Wohu is breathtakingly precipitous and dangerous,full of grotesque crags.All the peaks are so vivid with thosevolcanic colors,they seem to be still enveloped in the smoke of eruption. |
